From the Mountains to Super 2
Our story begins with a brush, a lifetime of perseverance, and a spirit we call Super 2.
The artist behind these calligraphy works is my father. He grew up in the mountainous region of northern Taiwan, where life was challenging and resources were limited. As a child, attending school meant crossing mountains on foot every day—an hour-long journey each way. Despite the hardships, henever feared difficulty. He believed in giving his absolute best and completing whatever mission lay in front of him.
This mindset is what we define as “Super”.
The mindset "Super" is deeply reflected in one of my father’s most meaningful works, inspired by a classical Chinese poem:
“By the lamplight at midnight and the rooster’s crow at dawn,
This is the time when a man should strive with all his strength.
Youth often fails to realize the value of diligence in learning;
Only with white hair does one regret starting too late.”
During those early years, he discovered Chinese calligraphy. With very limited materials, he practiced relentlessly, making the most of every opportunity he had at school. His dedication paid off as he won numerous local calligraphy competitions. Even while still in elementary school, he sold his own calligraphy on the streets during his free time—not for recognition, but simply to earn enough money to continue his education.
The second part of our brand, “2,” carries a deeply personal meaning. The pronunciation of “2” in English sounds like the Chinese word for rabbit. My father was born in the Year of the Rabbit, and those who know him well often say he works just like one—proactive, focused, and highly efficient. When faced with a task, he moves decisively and persistently, always aiming to reach the goal.
Together, Super 2 represents his life philosophy:
not afraid of challenges, fully committed, quick to act, and unwavering in his purpose and journey.
His life philosophy is further embodied in another remarkable piece, drawn from a well-known Chinese proverb:
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Although my father possessed great talent in calligraphy, he chose a more stable path to support his family and spent 20 years in the insurance industry. The brush was set aside, but his spirit never changed. Once his career was firmly established, he found his way back to calligraphy — not to compete, but to share the wisdom and energy cultivated through decades of life experience.
Each piece he creates today reflects patience, discipline, resilience, and positivity—values deeply rooted in traditional Chinese culture, where words are believed to carry meaning and energy beyond their form.
As his son, I have witnessed his sacrifices and lived by the example he set. Creating Super 2 is my way of honoring his journey and bringing his spirit to the world. Our work is not just about calligraphy—it is about passing forward a mindset, a culture, and a legacy.
